Each Examen, based on the prayer Saint Ignatius wrote over 500 years ago, guides you through a stimulating reflection on your day, helping you make God an integral part of your life's essence. Choose an Examen that reflects the moment you are in, or pray the reflection of the day.
Rediscovering the Examen is a creation of Loyola Press and is based on the popular book by Mark Thibodeaux, SJ "Reimagining the Ignatian Examen," which offers flexible and adaptable versions of the Examen.
What is the Ignatian Examen?
Saint Ignatius of Loyola devised the Examen in the form of a very short prayer that can be prayed at any time. In the Examen, we review the recent past to find God and His blessings in our daily lives. Saint Ignatius said that the Examen should be the most important moment of the day because this moment affects all other moments.
How is the Examen done?
There is a simple five-step routine for the daily Examen that this application guides you through:
<ol>
 <li>Savoring the moments where things went well and all the gifts you have received today.</li>
 <li>Asking the Spirit to guide you as you review your day.</li>
 <li>Reviewing your day.</li>
 <li>Repenting any mistakes or failures.</li>
 <li>Deciding concretely to live well tomorrow.</li>
</ol>

 <li>Discern how to handle the thorniest aspects of your life, recognize which inner gifts you need to receive from God to do right tomorrow, and explicitly ask for those gifts from God.</li>
